The Dark Divine by Bree Despain

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

I wasn't too sure about this book when I first started reading it. I felt like there was a lot of story background and too many hints as to what the whole secret of the book was. I kept thinking...tell me the secret already! But as the storyline progressed, I found that the book did indeed keep my attention and I was very surprised as to where the story went. I was not expecting the ending, which in my opinion makes the book great! Too many times I'm able to figure out what happens in the end and I was very happy to have found a book that kept me guessing until the very end. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal Young Adult novels.

Great review, I also really liked this book, and can't wait for the sequel.
